Being down the beach, airpods in and breathing in the salty air whilst doing my meditation is the best start to my day. I look forward to my solitude and time spent tapping in to my deepest truth, setting my intentions, praying for others and filling myself up with energy needed for my day ahead.
However, I also long for the moments I get to meditate with others. Being in a class or group setting when tapping in adds so much power to the connection we experience. There are many forms of meditation, but all essentially offer you one of two things; heightened awareness (shift in consciousness) or reflection over your current state. I personally find the latter best to do alone, it is unique to you and being in a group setting sometimes means you are pulled out of your state sooner than you need or guided in a direction you did not want to go. However, the former is powerful with others. One of the most well researched meditations is transcendental meditation. It is a profound way to unite the collective consciousness, this is called the Mahareshi Effect.
A Little About Mahareshi
‘Maharishi’, means the great knower of pure knowledge, and in the presence of this pure knowledge, positivity thrives, removing negative tendencies.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi spoke often of the positive, peaceful global transformations that would naturally result when as little as one percent of the world’s population practiced the Transcendental Meditation technique. In 1975, the results of the first scientific research were announced, which found a statistically significant reduction in crime rates in 12 American cities when the threshold of 1% of each city’s population practicing the TM technique was reached. Scientific research found that in cities and towns all over the world where as little as one per cent of the population practised the Transcendental Meditation Technique, the trend of rising crime rates was reversed, indicating increasing harmony.
Research scientists named this phenomenon of rising coherence in the collective consciousness of the whole society the Maharishi Effect, because this was the realization of Maharishi's promise to society made in the very early days of Maharishi's Movement (started in Madras, India in 1957).
The Maharishi Effect establishes the principle that individual consciousness affects collective consciousness. Nearly 50 scientific research studies conducted over the past 25 years verify the unique effect and wide-ranging benefits to the nation produced by the Maharishi Effect. These studies have used the most rigorous research methods and evaluation procedures available in the social sciences, including time series analysis, which controls for weekly and seasonal cycles or trends in social data.
The Vedas (earliest body of Indian scripture) say that all negativity falls off in the presence of pure knowledge, just as darkness disappears when light is brought in. Fighting darkness does not remove it; it is the onset of light, which does. Likewise, to deal with the numerous problems we face, we need to rise above them and bring in another element.
“Problems cannot be solved at the level of the problems” ~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
The Yoga Sutras ~ “Tats sannidhau vairatyaagah”
In the vicinity of coherence, the yogic influence — unifying, integrating and harmonious influence — conflicting tendencies do not arise. Decades ago, under Maharishi’s guidance, research was conducted on groups of people practising Transcendental Meditation (TM), and advanced meditation techniques. A coherent influence was observed and it was verified by sophisticated modern science techniques — that by creating large groups of people practising TM, TM-Siddhi programme and Yogic Flying collectively in one place, one can raise the collective consciousness of society.
This research has been the basis of our FREE group meditations each month called, The Collective.
We want to be apart of the solution. It is a beautiful daily must to visit my tranquil beach of the wee hours of the morning when only the groomer is there to keep me company whilst I practise my yoga, fill my heart with gratitude for the blessings in my life and check in with my highest truth… but this is merely me fine tuning my vehicle and collaborating my tools (aka mind and body) to sync with my soul.
To be of true service, to really help our world heal from the disasters we have faced, to help us heal from the pain and trauma we have experienced as a collective, I need to unite with the collective. And this is why we extend out the warmest of invitations to every person in our vast community to join us every 2nd Wednesday of the month 6.30pm at Redhead Wellness Sanctuary.
So together, we can unite our consciousness, spread love, healing and forgiveness into our world and experience the shift in our awareness together.
I really look forward to seeing you soon.
